Information Management Systems

Informatics has specialised in the production of non - standard information management systems that have quite often taken data from legacy systems which no longer meet the evolving requirements of user and incorporated it into new systems developed using Microsoft Access and Visual Basic. Such systems have included the storage and retrieval of images and graphics data.

Examples include:

HPLib2000 Library Information Management System - designed initially for the specialist needs of health promotion libraries to include a booking and consumables component along side conventional library requirements this system is now widely used in Scotland and Northern Ireland. An interesting component of this system is the inclusion of web based pages that make use of the library database to produce an on line catalogue that can be searched by library users.

Medical Genetics Information System - managing information on congenital abnormalities in N Ireland. This system included a GIS component that plotted distributions of data on a map of Northern Ireland as an aid to identifying potential clusters.

BioMar Marine Species Database - this information system allows users to search and display data regarding the distribution of marine life around the coast of Ireland. It included the ability to display images of marine life and their distribution on a map of Ireland.

HCR2000 Health Care Recruitment Management System - this Access based recruitment management system was developed for use within the health sector and supports the wide range of activities and specialist requirement s of both hospital and community trusts.
